Hi Everyone. I need some advise on dating and finding a boyfriend. I know this sounds totally stupid of me to come on Yahoo and try to find help for something so silly. I'm seventeen years old and homeschooled. I'm small boned and people often take me as 15. I wear makeup and dress nice, nothing too revealing but stylish. It seems when it comes to boys, they always look past me and I always feel like a "little kid" when I'm around them or kids my own age, because of my size. Although there are people who tell me that I'm pretty, I dont take them very seriously but you'd think I could at least find a boyfriend if I was, sigh.

Do you go to church?

There are a lot of good reasons to attend church, but one of the best is to meet and get acquainted with nice people your own age.

It's not silly. You want a social life and that is reasonable at age 17.

You may be surprised, but there are a lot of nice boys who are very shy with girls, and I'll bet some of them would love to date you and be your boyfriend.

You don't have to be a sexpot to attract guys, in fact it's better if you aren't. Also, get acquainted with girls around your age who can introduce you to boys. And don't feel like you have to date only 17-year-old boys. You might do very well with a 19-year-old. Make sure he's as sweet as you are, though, and you do sound very sweet.

My god, guys don't always go after looks, in fact I think a lot of a**holes go after simply pretty girls, if some people say you're pretty then you're at least average which is normal and maybe above that. Not knowing how old you are, I'm not sure what to say about style, some guys like a smaller woman and it isn't something to be ashamed of, try asking someone at a dept. store about wearing makeup to make you look less childlike or your hairdresser about a different hairstyle

Since you were home schooled, it is understandable that you haven't come in contact with the regular kids in public school.

Why don't you think about doing some volunteer work at your local library, hospital, museum, or nursing home.

Check with your Chamber of Commerce and see if they can refer you to some of the volunteer organizations.

You will begin to meet people and a lot of new things will come about for you.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the question.

There are groups online just for kids who are home schooled (my younger brouther used to be homeschooled) try googling home school groups. The groups meet for fun days of sports or just to hang out at the mall etc. Maybe you would meet someone there. My other idea is for you to volunteer at your local library, animal shelter etc. and you will meet many people volunterring.
