It depends on the hospital. For instance, some charity hospitals have volunteer doctors.
If you want to volunteer at a hospital, your age and skills will determine what assignment you will be appropriate for. Some volunteers are put into roles where they assist visitors, such as staffing an information desk or the hospital gift shop. Other volunteers are allowed to have some interaction with patients, such as wheeling people to the x-ray department. And other volunteers help in administrative roles, such as filing or directing calls.
If you want to volunteer at a hospital, you need to be clear to the volunteer manager about why you want to volunteer and what you are expecting out of it. If you express interest in a medical career, you are probably going to be put into a different role than, say, if you walk in and say you need some community service hours. Also, new volunteers are usually tested, through more menial tasks, and through the quality of their service earn the right to more interesting service.

You will do what the old ones cannot do alone anymore like sitting up on his bed, guiding him to the rest room, giving him a bath or washing his butt, watch his body condition, making him feel comfortable and many more. Of course, you can accomplish all these works if you are really the so-called "down-to-earth individual".
Lord, give him more strength to be of service to his fellowmen. Amen.
