As previously noted, there are some great blackhead scrubs that can get rid of blackheads. However, not too many people are interested in the "use this and wait 12 hours to see results" routine.... they want instant gratification. So basically it sounds like you're asking how to pop a blackhead.
First off... ouch. It's possible to push and push and push on them until they blow... and that typically involves bleeding and a lot of pain. Also, in most cases, this pushes the bad stuff deeper into the skin, which makes things worse. And, on top of all that, even if you are successful (I had about 50-50 odds on successfully pulling this off) it can sometimes leave a scar. Not cool.
The only thing I've found that works well is a blackhead remover. You can find them at any drugstore for about $5. There are two kinds. One has loops around the other end and the other looks like this:
http://www.alwaysbrilliant.com/images/fullsize/GL200000845.jpg
That's the one I recommend. It has two different sized holes on either end and I like the way it works. It pretty much pushes from all angles and once and pops it just like that. You've gotta push hard, so it still hurts, but not nearly as much. Plus it reduces the risk of scars and bleeding.

Ok, the pot of steaming water idea, that was ridiculous and I can't believe anyone actually offered that up as advice. Perhaps thats what they did back in the day, but now a days we have much faster (and better working) ways of getting rid of blackheads.
1. Clean your face before bed every night. Remove the build up from the days dirt, oil, makeup, etc.
2. Use a blackhead scrub weekly. Different brands work for different people, but b'iore is awesome and relatively inexpensive.
3. Pick- but NOT with your fingers/nails- this causes breakouts and worse skin due to the oil on your fingers.
Use the Bliss antoine de paris blackhead extractor. Find it as blissworld.com OR something similar to it (I recommend the bliss one only because its the one I use and it does a great job)
After putting your skin through this, make sure and moisturize. It's the secret to beautiful healthy skin, afterall.

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.
In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.
Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.
In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.
If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

There are many ways to get rid of those blackheads. Here are a few.
Steps
1. Take a clean face cloth.
2. Wet it with boiling water.
3. Cover your face with the cloth to open your pores.
4. Wash your face with a blackhead clean and cleanser.
5. Rinse.
6. Use a toner to close your pores.
7. Good luck.
Method 1
1. Use creams containing AHA's (Alpha Hydroxyl Fruit acids) like glyco-creams that will clear away any dead skin cells and "expose" the blackhead. Use the AHA's every 3 days or so.
Method 2
1. Make a lotion with equal parts of lime juice, almond oil and glycerin and apply on the face. It not only cures blackheads but the discoloring spots on the face too.
2. Put a bit of it up your nostril to prevent the oils up your nose turning into blackheads
Method 3
1. Warm a little honey and apply on the trouble spots.
2. Wash off after 10-15 minutes.
[edit] Method 4
1. Beat an egg white stiff.
2. Add 1 tsp honey.
3. With a cotton swab apply on the face and leave for half an hour.
4. Rinse with warm water and pat it dry.
Method 5
1. Rinse your face with warm water to open your pores.
2. Generously saturate a section of washcloth with olive or almond oil.
3. Place a dab of toothpaste (not the gel kind) on the oily washcloth.
4. Gently and thoroughly rub the toothpaste over your nose with the oily cloth. Do it twice if you have a lot of blackheads.
5. Massage it into your whole face if you like. Add more oil or toothpaste as necessary.
6. Wait about 5 minutes, then rinse your face thoroughly with hot water and a clean washcloth.
7. Splash your face with cold water (preferable iced) to close the pores. Pat dry with a clean towel.
Tips
* Avoid washing the face with soaps more than twice a day. Instead wash your face often with plain water splashes.
* Keep your hair away from your face. Greasy hair and skin don't go together, and hair can spread infection.
* Sunshine or ultra-violet light encourages skin peeling, and so helps to clear blocked pores. So sunbathing or use of sun-beds in moderation can be helpful. Except that continuous peeling leads to skin cancer.

Ok... 2 things i do.
One is very hard.. and sometimes uncomfortable.
Boil a pot of water. Set it down somewhere at about shoulder level. Close your eyes tight, and put your face above the water so the steam hits it, with a towel around the back of your head to keep the steam in. This will open your pores. Directly after doing that as many times as you can (ITS HOT!!), wash your face with hot water, then rinse with cold water to close the pores again.
Secondly, I use the blackhead strips, and a clay masque on a weekly basis. They both work rather well.
Good luck!

It's a great idea to steam the area of where the black heads are. But not with a pot of water. It should be after a shower or after you are in a hot tub. This softens the oils in the pores and makes it easier for extraction. Yes, extraction. Sounds gross, but it is only your oil trapped in the pore with the top area black from oxidation. You can buy an extraction tool, or wash your hands thoroughly and squeeze them out one by one. After this is done, use a toner type product and suggestedly buy a salyactic (spelling??) facial or body wash to wash the area daily. Remember this is not from dirt, but from your hormonal oils in your skin. Once you get all of them out, you should be able to keep others from starting up by washing with the salyactic soap product.
