Yep he is a ten year old boy. Sounds like the teacher isn't getting his attention. Should be addressed at school and home. Does he realize what a privilege it is that he gets an education. What the consequences of bad grades. Is he bringing home bad grades. If he isn' bringing home bad grades I wouldn't worry about it, unless teacher decides to grade on class participation. If he is bringing home bad grades then it is time to shut the games and tv off and teaching him after school cause he doesn't want to learn in school.

Different people learn differently. Sounds like he is a visual learner. Are his grades suffering sufficiently, or are they acceptable/average for his grade level? The type of education he is getting may be a factor. Some schools purposely intergrate the arts into the classroom and the classroom into the specials to reach this type of child.

I do not think he has issues, unless he is not doing or understanding any of the homework at all. Then you may need to find a way to get him engaged in school. This will most likely mean an active effort by both teacher and parents.

For one, few schooled children are interested in education by his age. This is due to peer influence and a lack of stimulating environment and the tediousness of schools.

For two, he may be in classes below his intelligence, which would incite serious boredom, speaking from experience. Genius syndrome is characterized by acting out and antisocial behaviors (which, contrary to popular usage, does not mean not interacting with peers). Honestly, he's probably just bored--and rightfully so.

it is absoluetly not adhd thats for sure. the majority of schools have almost all woman teachers who teach in ways that they (females) learn in. The male brain learns and behaves differently. It might help if he has a male teacher or if you very very politely speak with the teacher about accomadating male learning styles better. It is not a phase really and since he is lucky enough to have a male role model in you it will improve if you are supportive and act like a good role model. Also make sure he gets enough exercise and eats properly. talk to a the school counseller preferably a male one for more info.

I don't know any 10 year old on the planet that likes to go to the prison system we call school.

Drawing is what we kids do when we are bored. He is focusing on his education, but he doesn't feel the need to pay attention because he understands everything already! If he is doodling, the teacher should realize that they are boring!

could be add or adhd...look out for some other symptoms outside of school to be worried about this. He may just not be interested in the subject taht is being taught at that time when he is drawing
