No, not a monkey. A common ape-like ancestor. This is what I know to be true, and as a Christian, is even more glorious and amazing than anything I can imagine. God continually creates this universe, and supports the life within it by His breath. He created this universe and life to evolve from simple to complex, from unconscious to conscious, from unliving to living, from beast to child of God.
To imagine that God created this plan of evolution for us to get closer to Him, to me, is such a beautiful prospect, and shows His immense love for us as His creation. You think this negates Christ and His sacrifice? On the contrary, His sacrifice both covered our sins for this age, where everyone will be responsible for their own in the next, they will work out their salvation on their own. Also, His ultimate sacrifice shows us how to evolve further spiritually through sacrifice of our own, to become like the Christ that He is. He is perfect, we become so by following his example.

"As on earth as in Heaven", same as "So above, so below" in many other religions. This world was created to become Light, as the Heavens and God, in the Age to Come. This is upon us soon, and humanity is evolving towards Light for this next world cycle of our evolution.
Quite a beautiful, and amazing, Divine Plan! And all created by God, through evolution.

One simple question:
Why are there not thousands of transitional stages in the fossil record substantiating this???
If the change was gradual, MOST of the fossils found should disclose some stage in the transition.
That is simply not the case!!
It is like looking up at the stars and saying "Look!, the Big Dipper!" But there is no dipper - just a few distantly place stars - and there is NO evidence for evolution.

Evolution in general is a fact. The idea that humans evolved from apes is a theory and has not been proven as fact. Scientifically there are huge holes in the claim. Plus it is well established in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam that Adam and Eve were created by God and made intelligent from the beginning. They didn't evolove into intelligence. They were civilized linguists. So either all of these Prophets who came doing miracles and teaching good morals are wrong and all of the scriptures are wrong or this theory is a lie and will never hold weight as even close to fact.
Rarely to these three main religions of the world agreem so that must hold some weight!

I'm glad you're able to wrap your mind around the correct concept of evolution. I must say, after reading the rest of your question, I'm a bit surprised you could do it.
So you're saying that God created the first little living cell. He then toyed with it for awhile, creating plants and animals, etc. Then one day he saw a large T-Rex chomping on a weaker dinosaur. God's just like, "Damn, I really messed this one up." So he killed everything. Then he toys with whatever life remains and gets mammoths and, eventually, humans. Then he wants his humans to sacrifice the other animals He worked so hard on, to prove to him you guys love him? My point is, he created millions of species of plants and animals throught the past 4.3 billion years, but he only really cares about one of them?
We're what he's been looking for all these years? A group of people (the majority of which don't believe in him) who kill other people (sometimes in His name,) who get unfairly diseased and killed, who remain completely ignorant to science, and who worship money more than God. Hopefully, he's still working out the bugs, because I would be ashamed if I had created such a dysfunctional species.

They have merely decided not to invest their faith in that theory. *I* wonder why you have chosen to invest *your* faith in an unproven scientific theory. As a scientist, I am very aware of how fleeting most scientific theories are. Surely you can find something a *little* more reliable in which to have faith?
"This is what I know to be true"
Amazing, since science has been unable to prove this. I wonder - what is the mystical source of you revelatory knowledge?
"To imagine that God created this plan of evolution for us to get closer to Him, to me, is such a beautiful prospect, and shows His immense love for us as His creation."
I'm not so gung-ho about this religion. After all, that means my great -great-great grandkids are going to be closer to God than I, and theirs likewise, and so on. I'm feeling kind of short-changed by your religion.

P.S. I believe that evolution is *most likely* the means that God used to create mankind.

Because a lot of people were told as children what is right and what is not and most people cant open there mind to other possibilities. Because the spontaneous apparition of an whole divers and highly adaptable species is a better explanation. Talk about evidence.

I have never seen a conflict between evolution and religion except in the minds of a very vocal few who let it be known that being anti-evolution is the politically correct thing to be in Christiandom.

How do you know it wasn't an ape! Christianity is not based on evolution but the word of God and evolution has no place in the word of God "read Genesis".

they think of the bible as providing a detailed, accurate historical account (biblical inerrancy). but the bible mentions nothing of ape-like human ancestors. unlike you they're not willing to rethink their position on the bible, so they figure evolution must be wrong. generally speaking they don't have a very good grasp of the evidence supporting evolution - they consult 'experts' who are happy to keep them misinformed about the scientific status of evolution, because the 'experts' have a vested interest in maintaining belief in biblical inerrancy - it's their ticket to wealth and power.

"So atheists have self assurance we've an undemanding ancestor with an ape?" NO, atheists have not got self assurance in a god or gods. end off. atheism isn't something in besides to do with something. in case you elect to be attentive to approximately evolution then study a e book on the priority or ask a scientist who examine it.
