If they are asking for the additional money, they probably need the extra for some reason. They never asked you to get a job before, or pay them anything. I does not sound to me like they are being unreasonable, it sounds like they got hit with some unforeseen financial trouble.
I know it is frustrating to just hand over your hard-earned dollars when you are trying to "save up," but life has a way of upending the best laid plans.
Trust me $100 a week...all meals and utilities included....you won't be finding a better deal than that anywhere else.

The fact that you graduated high school changed the rules, not that you have a job. They're pushing you to either make more $$$ or go to college. Pick one....$10/hr is nothing, and neither is $100/ week compared to a college tuition.
Pay up, move out, or go to college!
I'd go with 3.

If you could move out of your parents house and still have more money left over than if you were paying your parents $100 a week then maybe not. Then just move out.
But most probably, $100 a week is better than getting your own place. So until you can provide your own roof over your head and pay for your own expenses, then it kinda IS fair, isn't it?

Dude!!! You have it sooo easy!
I'm 18. Work part-time ($300.00 a week), paying for college, pay my parents 250.00 a month, and am trying to save for a car. $160.00 a month is nothing! Be happy that's all they want, and think of how much your saving compared to what you would spend if you were renting a room with someone else!

IT IS NOT FAIR.
I wasn't born in America. In many parts of the world, parents don't ask their children who just turned 18 to give them money, unless if they are very very very poor. I will never get used to these things in America. I believe asking an 18 year old, who just got a job, for money is humiliating.
If they force you to give them money, then you don't have a choice.
BUT, REMEMBER NOT TO DO the same thing to your own children in the future.
Parents' duty is to help and protect their children not to bilk them.

Take the hint. They aren't going to let you.
Get a scooter and get out of the house.
Find a nice-sized apartment and several people whom you can share it with and split the rent and utilities with, or find a small garage-apartment where you can trade part of the rent for yard work.

No Offense, you should want to be helping them out. Without knowing it you take up a big bit of their expenses. Food, electric, heat? Who knows but they pay for you. They are also trying to teach you responsibility. Wait until you have to pay 2000.00 a month for a mortgage. Give it gladly and kiss them while your at it. You have good parents, some kids in this country don't even have parents, or their in jail........Sorry, starting to sound like my Dad..........good luck!
