Id like to sit on my recliner and surf the internet with a PS3. But can I do pictures and download on a PS3 instead of a computer? Im getting tired of sitting up in a little chair online. A PS3 would be quite a change and besides I need a DVD player anyway so all in one huh a good idea?

You can surf the net on the PS3, though if you are downloading directly through the PS3's OS you can only download certain extensions which are compatible. Though if you install linux onto your PS3, which is free, you can download anything and even use firefox, or whatever browser you choose to use to surf the net, among using other applications such as open office and instant messengers. And yes, you can store music, pictures, and video on the PS3, on it's hard drive.

Also, the PS3's web browser can only support some flash components, you can use it on youtube, and other basic sites, like myspace, cnn, or anything like that, but you cannot play flash games or anything that uses java or anything like that.

Though, if you use linux, you can use firefox or opera and browse any site you wish and access any content you want, and have P2P software, torrents, photo editing software, you name it, on your PS3.

PS3 has a good browser, but not as good as PCs. Some plugins aren't supported. PS3 is good for gaming. You can install Linux on PS3 and get yourself a substitute for PC, but you'll need a HDTV and have experince working on Linux. If you really like to chill, get a wireless keyboard and mouse for PC, big monitor and enjoy it straight from a bed. But PS3 is MUCH better for gaming, than PC.

Well, you have to determine what is your specific needs. The PS3 is a great machine but I still believe that a computer especially a laptop is more versatile. Think about it... you can play games on both, you can surf the net on both, pics, videos, etc. What really sets them apart is travel. Do you need to travel anywhere? Are you going to need to burn CDs or DVDs? Type papers and need Microsoft office suite? Or do you just want to play top-of-the-line games, watch HD movies, and occasionally surf the net?

i belive you're able to have your ps3 hooked as much as router? no longer you computer? there could be some innovations someplace telling you the way and to no longer make it quickly set up once you dont opt for it to.

Yes, PS3's better than a PC in terms of SPECS, but the problem is, it's not that productive, unlike the PC with millions of possibilities.
