I received the full amount for a Pell Grant and I was thinking of withdrawing from a class. Do I need to repay anything or will I be denied later? The class started in August and it's November now in case that makes a difference. Also, I'm full-time right now

I've heard of a rule about 60% attendence. From what I've understood, if it's dropped before then it's penalized but if it's after 60% of the time allotted for course completion then it's either not penalized or not as severely.

There is a procedure in federal regulations called "Return of Title IV" - the Pell Grant is part of Title IV funds. This information is calculated based on your enrollment, how many days you have attended, eligibility prior to withdrawl, etc.

This is something that your school has to calculate. If you do wtihdraw now, you will most likely have to repay a portion of your Pell funds. Although I do not do the calculations of R2T4 for my school, I have returned a few payments to COD for Pell even at this date.

You should talk to a financial aid officer at your school for more information/guidance. Good luck!

I have dropped classes, and they have not taken away my aid. I once dropped to 7 credits.. bad quarter, anyways, i think as long as you are considered full time you can have the money. so if you drop it and still have full time status, then you are fine. i dont know what kind of system you are on, but average credit per quarter is 15, and if you have 12 or more credits you are full time. Check with your advisor or finanical aid office

as long as you do no longer pass under 12 credit and are not to any extent further an entire time student then they gained't eliminate your furnish. you may pull out of a class as long because it does not drop you under 12 credit for the semester. additionally, you're already over 60% finished..

Sorry guys, but at this late date, it is UNLIKELY you will have to pay back anything. A typical semester is almost over and 60% of it has passed. I wouldnt make a habit of this or it will come back to haunt you.

You must pay, your Fin Aid office can even send you to collections if not done. But check with your site to make sure you know the policy.
