There are SO many reasons why a dog might attack someone. I can't even go into all the reasons here. I will post a link for you so you can read about it.
*I can't find a good link. A dog might attack a person if they are intruding on their property,
If a person is threatening their owner,
If an owner abuses a dog,
If a person is hurting a dog (attacking in defense),
If an owner owns an aggressive dog, but refuses to get behavioral help.
If an owner trains his dog to be aggressive toward other people.
If a dog is kept on a chain all day, and feels threatened by someone, they can't run, so they might attack.
And MANY other reasons, mainly due to how a dog is raised and treated by it's owner. It is VERY rare that a dog attacks for no reason, unprovoked.
Not all dogs drool a lot. A lot of it has to do with how their lips hang. My brothers dachshund does not drool at all, her lips are not droopy, they are tight and close to her mouth. My Pit Bull's lips are slightly droopy, so she drools sometimes, like when I am eating a hamburger. Dogs like mastiffs have Very droopy lips, so they drool a LOT! Look at this dog, I bet he is the most drooly dog ever. He is a Neapolitan mastiff:

Why doesn't any one agree with anyone else. Everyone has thumbs downs.

Some dogs drool cause they're afraid and they attack people for the same reason.

My dog doesn't do either. Very few dogs attack... you just hear about the few who do WAY too much. Well... ask this: why do people attack? Obviously some people are violent and attack others... but most don't. Same for dogs.
As for drooling... Not all dogs drool. Mine doesn't, neither does my mom's. Certain breeds tend to drool more than others, though (...labs...).
Please don't buy into such ignorant generalizations. 99% of dogs are sweet, gentle, wonderful creatures.

They usually don't attack people unless provoked,
as for drooling:
Some dogs are natural droolers. The Basset hound, Bullmastif, and St. Bernard are among some classic examples of that dog breeds that regularly drool and slobber. The skin around their mouths and jaws is very loose and this lets the drool seep out, especially when they eat and exercise. Other dogs drool only occasionally and in varying amounts.

Dogs don't normally attack people. And not all dogs "drool so much". Stop stereotyping every dog. Because it's not true. Don't make a generalization until you can back it up with facts.

Dogs only usually attack people if they feel threatened or a person is provoking them. The reason they drool so much is because dogs only have sweat glands in between their feet. The only other way the "sweat" or release excess body heat is through panting. If your mouth was open and your tongue was out all the time you would end up drooling sometimes to. It is their way to regulate their temperatures

Because of judgemental people like you.
Dogs only attack when provoked or untrained. Drool comes naturally for some breeds, just leave it alone and let them live.
EDIT: I personally don't care, but are you thumbs-downing people who disagree or conflict your question? El-oh-el!
