I don't think going into the military reserves is a scary thing but make the choice to join for the right reasons. If you are looking for a education and extra money that is great but your chances of deploying to a war environment are high right now. No one in the military can guarantee you that you won't go to war, keep that in mind when signing paperwork.

If you enlist in any part of the military you should be prepared to step into harms way. That is what the military does. If going to war is something you are unwilling to do then DO NOT JOIN THE MILITARY.
I would not call joining the reserves a scary thing (many other people might) but I would say you should know that there is a strong possibility that you will see combat sometime in your career. Don't join the military for college money or a bonus. Those are incentives not reasons. Join because you are willing to step into harms way if you must. If your not willing then don't join.

Yes, It's scary, but standing up for what you believe in is worth the risk. Anything you do in life has a certain amount of risk.
the difference is knowing when to take that risk, You only live once. For every grunt in combat it takes 5 other people to support that 1 grunt, From Doctors to Lawers to supply clerk's.

Not really, but if you're shitting in your pants just thinking about it, then it's not for you. And of course you can be called up and go to war.
