Get the 60GB system... you can always upgrade your PS3 hard drive when ever you want. I got the 250GB PS3.

Bigger hard drive would be better with "PlayTV" coming... it's a PS3 add-on that makes your Playstation into a DVR... like TiVo.

You'll need a big hard drive for all your HD TV shows.

The 40GB cannot play PS2 games, and you cannot mod it to play PS2 games.

The 60GB is the better buy because it can play all PS1/PS2 games, and it has 20 GB more space and card readers. This SKU might be harder to come by though, since Sony has stopped making them.

The 80GB is also a choice, but can only play some PS2 games because it runs PS2 games through software emulation (the 60GB runs PS2 games through hardware emulation via the emotion engine)

It's correct. 40GB doesn't play PS2 games. Also 40GB has only 2 USBs instead of 4 on 60GB model, no memory card reader, no chrome trim. In Asia white 40GB is on sale. If PS2 games are important - get 60GB.

Definetly go with the 60 GB one. Buy EVERYTHING online. I've been buying all my games online since I got my PS3 and I've been literally been paying half or even less then half the store price on BRAND NEW games. Just go to ebay or amazon. Shop around. I never buy electronics in stores ....its not worth it .....especially when you can find it for cheaper online (well depending on what it is and how much it weighs). You just gotta have patience (shipment wise) and dont jump on the first thing you see if you think you can find it cheaper somewhere else. Also try craiglist for local postings
