Depends on the type of letter. Many people would rather talk in person than write. I am comfortable writing and emailing, but if it is a personal type letter, I may call over the phone or wait until I see the person. Why not call and ask if she got the letter, and if so, has she had a chance to write back or not? If not, will she have time before you meet again?

If my hubby sat down and wrote me a letter after all this time, I would write him one back--if it was a mushy letter...most men, I have discovered, are not good at face to face emotional stuff, so maybe it's his way of being emotional but saving face as a man...if the letter is of a negative nature, then it would still be the same principle--not wanting to have an emotional face to face with a woman who's probably going to have a meltdown over whatever he wrote...send the letter, let her blow up, and then talk to her long after she's calmed down, when she's a little more rational...yes, we women can get terribly irrational when it comes to bad news from our significant other...that would explain why men write it in a letter or just walk away without saying anything, like why bother when they know they're not going to win, no matter what...

If this long term relationship is not long distance why can't she talk to you in person about the letter. It shouldn't really matter either way.

Each girl is different. Maybe she doesn't like to write letters. I used to not be comfortable writing my boyfriend letters in the beginning, but now I do it whenever I want. I'm more comfortable now. It takes some girls time, soem not, some aren't into that stuff, some are, etc...

letter writing has lost its romance. E mails and cell phones are the thing of now. My son broke up with his soon to be wife by text message and that was just awful..
we are a fast pace generation and this is just the way it is..letter writing is so nice..

I think because i have been in the long term relations ship i would talk to him and say thanx for the letter that was sweet baby. .. nd then maybe write one later on down the trak bak to her. .. . writing letters to each other and then letting them read it means there is no communication left between you guys to talk about . ..
gud luck

A letter is sweet. It shows love, care, and respect, because with all the modern technology, people are using email, phones, and stuff. Whether they'd reply is a different matter.

Where is he writing this letter from? He may not be contacted by phone! If you are so insecure in your relationship then I suggest a rethink.
