Other than rooting for your favorite driver(s), are you:
rooting against others, looking for a crash, or using a Sunday afternoon to have a reason to chill and have a few beers?

I know experiencing the sights, sounds and even smells of a live race blows away anything you can see on TV. What is the best part of being a fan?

I too will admit I wait for the "big one" as that screws up all the pit strategy for the whole race. I look more for the pit strategy than the wrecks, I like a race that is close. Sometimes the team just has a good car and it is as boring as the 5 o'clock drive home, but add to that a down tire someone blows a motor. that has an effect on pit strategy. So the guy who watches for the cool crashes hasn't figured it out yet.

I watch for my favorite driver and friend David Reutimann. I do root against the drivers I don't like , like Montoya . And if they crash I celebrate. I like to see all the crashes, if their is no crashes in the race , then it is pretty boring. It is not a reason to have beers or use a Sunday afternoon, I hate Beer! I enjoy going to races, it is exciting, plus spend time with my mom and my family. The best part of being a fan is knowing someone that is a race car driver , like David Reutimann is my friend and my neighbor's friend and our family's friend and being able to call him up and talk to him about the race he just ran. Or at the race track talking him and hanging out before he races, that is totally cool! It more exciting when you know someone ,when your rooting. And knowing you have something to believe in and watch and have fun.

for me there is no 'best' part. I like the big crashes (again as long as everyone walks away), but I also like the big finish. I like it when two good drivers run door to door, I like it when someone can pull off the 'crossover' and make the pass without putting someone into the wall. I like it when JR. runs the top of the track and scares everyone, I like seeing the 'fish tails' that the driver is able to pull out of just inches from the wall, I like watching the pit strategies and seeing what works and what doesn't (I really like it when someone does something that is not suppose to work but it does), I like it when they run 3 and 4 wide on tracks you're not suppose to be able to. a fast car working through traffic to challenge for the lead is exciting(even more so when it's my Driver, JR). a fast car up front, walking away from the pack as no one can challenge him is just boring.

I don't drink beer but I do use it as a chance to unwind and maybe have a Jack and Coke or two.

I have not had the chance to see a race live but I think THAT would be the BEST part.

On TV most people watch for the wrecks....I say pit strategy, how good the car handles....the excitement of a close finish. Personally, being at the track is an awesome experience. Where else, but in this country do they have a fly over? Being a fan, it's the fact that there's so many teams and everyone can have their favorite, but they all come together when it comes to charity and giving.

I'm not looking for a wreck, and I can't see why anybody would want to see that.

I like door to door racing like the kind we witnessed between JJ and Matt Kenseth last Sunday. I love to see true driving talent, which is why I'm a huge fan of short tracks and road courses. In those two events, it's more about the driver than the car.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I'm all about drinking a few beers during the race! :-)

I study the different drivers techniques to see if I can learn something new. I laugh at the announcers when they show the cockpit view and get all excited about How BUSY the drivers hands are. I drive on 2 clay ovals and my hands are busy like that in all 4 corners and both straights each and every lap. The best part of being a fan is its in your blood!!!!!!

I love a great finish, two cars going at it like the two in daytona this yr..Lots of Green flag laps...I think they should take every caution lap especially 25 laps to go for every caution add a green flag lap....Being there in person is the best way...but hey a sunday afternoon with a bunch of friends over with everyone having their own favorites and dislikes and a few beers, its just like being their.. I love action, for me its good ole racing two or three in the corners or down the front straightaway..

Rooting for my driver to win, rooting against the 2 or 3 drivers I dont really care for. Watching the pit stops and strategy, agonizing waiting for a caution coming at the right time to help your driver and hoping it doesnt hurt them and yeah. a good crash now and then, while hoping noone gets hurt.

I watch the different lines the drivers take. The good drivers change lines when their car is off a bit, others just fade to the rear.

I watch for cars pushing up coming off corners or fish tailing loose off of corners.

Watching a fast car get thru traffic is one of my favorites as are two or three car duels for the win.

If u watch it on TV, U only have to see the end of it coz thats the most important. the driver u root for may b in 1 st place at the beginning and middle but he could be last during the closing stages. So remember, its only fun if u watch the end of the show, just like NBA.
