Don't pay any attention to the word equivalent in the question - it got stuck there for some reason.

Superdave which "one" of those would be "the" top notch owner of the future.
I didn't know any of those guys currently own their own teams or cars do they?

As previously stated, Harvick and Gordon for sure. I also think, somewhere down the line, Jr. will have his own Cup team as well. I think also, Rusty will bring a Cup team eventually. I would like to see Stanton Barrett get some backing and get a Busch/Nationwide team started. He has the passion and drive to make it work. I would bet on Smoke in the future as well.
Go Jr.>>>>

Kevin Harvick has already got his stuff together.
I think if Michael Waltrip can weather the storm, his team will be good as well. Toyota will want more than JGR for their cars, so Mikey still has a good shot at being a successful owner.
I think that Robby Gordon would be a good owner if he focused his energy on running the team and not racing everything on wheels! I like Robby as a racer, but if he's going to run a team he needs to consider stepping out of the car. Until he does, he needs to hire somebody else to make decisions.

Kevin Harvick- KHI is a pretty well run orginization. Can even get some pretty good Buschwackers to run for him (Stewart, Labonte). Driving for RCR doesn't hurt either, since Richard will let him run his orginization on the side(hmm sounds kinda familiar there). Delenna seems to know what she's doing too.
Jr. - Merging JR Motorsports with HMS's Busch program was pure genius. Has an eye for talent (Truex Jr.), and Kesolowski isn't doing too shabby this year. Already has 2 Busch titles as an owner, remember Truex was running for Chance 2 not DEI when he won the Busch titles.

Definitely Kevin Harvick and Dale Jr...Harvicks team's in truck and busch are doing great..Dale Jr with HMS help on his Busch team in 08, should get much better, hopefully Brad Keslowski can find victory lane next yr..I can see both of these guys down the road having their own cup teams once they retire..
Go Dale Jr win Phoenix

Harvick has already proved to be pretty good. I believe his wife has a good business head. I believe Gordon and Johnson would make good business men. I think they would work well with sponsors to get the money needed to run a team. Stewart does pretty good with his dirt cars, but don't know if he would bring that to the upper levels. I don't think he likes the political BS.

I would agree with wedge and say Kevin Harvick (KHI) or Dale Earnhardt Jr (JR Motorsports). While Robby Gordon has done well as an owner/driver he hasn't shown he can manage other drivers yet.

I go along with Harvick and Earnhardt. But I would like
to add Gordon to that list. He already is part owner of
Jimmie's car and with help from HMS would be another
owner that would be a force to contend with.

Jr will probably gain an immeasurable amount of knowledge working for Hendrick and driving both DEI and HMS cars. He will be something to look for in the future.
