i am useing windows vista and have windows movie maker but just want something a little better and thats not going to cost me so much thanks for your answers

I use Movie Edit pro from www.magix.com and find it easy to use AND powerful

What platform? PC? Mac? Linux?

If you are running a PC with windows XP, you already have a movie editor called WIndows Movie Maker that will get a rough job done...and its free.
