Sorry, folks, that this may not be an R&S question, but I couldn't find any other category... please pardon and bear with me....

Today, in a nearby town, a man shot/killed his wife, and then shot/killed himself. I know this has been going on for years, but it baffles me WHY anyone would DO this?

Please... if you have ANYTHING to share to shed light upon WHY someone would commit murder/suicide, I might be able to comprehend it better!

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure I can add anything at all. This is so useless. There are no problems that God can't work out if you will call upon His name.

In my ex-husband apt. a young woman took his 38 and blew her brains out, standing at the foot of his bed. And to this very day, we still do not know why. It really took a toll of my ex, he was never the same after that, he passed away two years later.

Prayer is the only way to get through this. Our human minds are not to understand, only God has the true reasons.

I think the only ones who could really understand it are the ones who have been there and done that, and of course they can not answer us.... I would truely like to know the answers to that question myself..... the only way I can explain it to myself is this..... A person can and does get to such a low point of desperation they have no hope.... they lose all self worth and identity of who they are...in the end they see nothing as real or good or truth...... and is some, I am not sure if all cases, when they take with them or before them I should say, the one person who should have all the answers or who should love them enough to give them what they are missing, they simply just remove that other person, wife, husband, child, from the hurt and pain, or at least in their mind or heart that is what it is, or maybe they simply just want to keep that other person from going through it all ??? just a thought !! go in peace........ God bless

I wish I knew the answer to your question. However, I will never know, because I do not have the mindset of a killer. I watch forensic files all the time, and it boggles my mind to think that people can kill others and feel no remorse for their actions. I wish we all knew what makes them behave in this manner, so that the next generation will not have to live in fear of their lives. It is very scary, there are a lot of weird people out there. Well, I have a few sites listed below that may be able to help you better understand.

I think it's important to realize that logic and reason weren't playing very critical roles in his decision making. So it really limits the why element because there just isn't a reason you can point to. We aren't the perfectly wired up creatures that sometimes we like to think we are and people short circuit. Now, there can be clues, there can be problems throughout life that eventually made someone behave this way; society pressures, childhood, lack of money, too much drugs, etc... But there is no reasoning. It's mental meltdown. At least that's my uninformed non-researched opinion. And it just sucks for everyone.

murder suicide happens for a number of reasons but the main reason is sombody has come to a point where they are not mental stable and snap. The woman could of been threatening divorce been cheating ect. The man then feel like he dosn't want her to leave or dosn't want anybody else haveing her ect. And after doing the act feels realizes what hes done and kills him out of guilt or fear of being caught. There are really alot of differnt reason why but its mostly happens because sombody is not in there right mind and snaps

I know someone who did this out of hatred.

The wife had a habit of disrespecting her husband in front of other people, sleeping around, various other stuff. The husband was a very quiet man, the kind who ordinarily kept his rage in check, but every once in a while would let the rage come out and explode.

One such night, apparently he'd had enough. The 911 call recorded the wife pleading with him to not do it, but he did and shot her to death. He then put the gun to his temple and took his own life.

Anger, hatred, jealously, who knows what exactly was going through the guy's mind, whatever it was it seems like his rage overwhelmed him and led him to this fateful decision.

Jealousy... If I can't have you no one else can either..

Mental Illness.. (self explainatory)

Control.. The husband felt the only control he had left was the ability to end it all..

Most often it's a combination of many things that sets the ball in motion...

Most often the killer hasn't planned a murder/suicide but rather commits the murder in a fit of rage and commits suicide out of fear of the consequences of the murder..

Murder/suicides are often the most difficult to understand as both parties involved in whatever lead up to it are dead..

i don't think I can anser murder but I can anser suicide.

He hated himself from the second the bullet hit his wife so much he wanted to kill himself as with most murder/ suicides but it really depends on the situation to know why the murdrr took place

Dayle Hinman from "Body of Evidence" would be able to answer this question since she's a forensics profiler. My guess is the husband was extremely angry and felt hopeless about the marital situation, and saw this as his only means of having control . So sad.

Well, ok, I know it's hard to believe- very, very hard, but the Spiritual realm is real. What I mean by that is that demons are real, who mess with people's minds to make them do insane things. They can actually get INSIDE people. Like I said, I know it's hard to believe and a little complicated, but that's what happens. Anger comes to all of us, people get angry at what somebody does to them or when something wrong happens. But anger and rage can also be triggered by someone else, unpredictably and irrationally.
