If you have some interests... anything from literature, to cooking, or whatever... this is a nice format to find people in your area with those interests.
You go to meet nice people, perchance to strike up a friendship, and either find someone to date through a meetup group, or be introduced to someone through someone you meet in a meetup group... in other words, networking.
