My son is two years old I can see signs of autisim in his behavior. I live just northeast of Houston, TX. Right now he sees a speech therapist once a week. I feel that he needs more than just once a week. Does anyone know of any places or programs that can help us out?

The first step might be to obtain an autism diagnosis (although it may still be a little bit early at age 2). A diagnosis will make more services available, particularly at age 3, when he may become eligible for public school special education preschool services. Although, if you already have another diagnosis, he should still be eligible for the public school program.

I'm not from the Houston area, but I know that there is a support group there: Families for Effective Autism Treatment of Houston. They may be able to provide you with some local information. Here is their website: http://www.feathouston.org/ . As another person pointed out, the Autism Society of America and Easter Seals are also good organizations to look into.

Here are some other general resources that I hope will be helpful to you.

Here are a few websites for national organizations that have information, support groups and specific help and testing for possible or diagnosed autism.
Easterseals has many different areas of help and they range from free to sliding scale fees depending on insurance and income.
I hope they have what you are looking for. Good luck to your family.

I know this might not help much, but Jenny McCarthy reasently wrote a book about her son having autism, you should read it, she has tons of ideas and places or treatments you can try.
