instead of a points system in the final 10 races, make it a singel elimination sort of thing where you would have 10 drivers and 10 races, at the end of each race the last car who is in the hunt for the championship gets eliminated. by the time we get to homestead, we have a 2 car race and the championship could be decided on a last lap pass. this format would bring out every thing we want in racing. 1, we would have good racing expecialy for the bubble spot and the difference of being in and out coming down to the last lap. 2, the best driver wins. 3, no math is involved, the championship is resolved based on passing the guy in front of you. Thats what racing is all about. passing the guy in front of you, not math.

ok, i might not have explained my self enough. 1st of all, we all cried when mat kenseth won by a crazy points margin. we all wanted a points system that would make things tighter. 2nd thing what i proposed was there would be 2 people fighting for a championship and the rest of the feild would be there. i do agree that homstead shouldnt be the final race. either darlington or rockingham would be my 2 picks to have the last race. Rockingham would look awsome under the lights and it has had its share of great finishes. i just though of this too. they should re do the green white checkard ordeal. what should happen is if there is a green white checkard is they should only have cars on the leed lap battle it out. there really is no reason to have 43 cars out there to battle it out for 2 laps and 1 spot. creates to many cautions and too many people crying that they didnt see a race to the finish.

I think it make about as much since as the chase. None.
I say dump the chase and Homestead.
Why in the world would NA$CAR even consider racing at that place any way. Finish the season at one of the old original tracks that has some character to it not characters at it.
It is obvious the chase doesn't work folks. Dump it and go back to what worked and call it a day. All you have to do is look at all the post and you can what I have been saying the chase does not work the way it is and has been.
If they wanted to mess with it these NA$CAR brain child's have how many other series they could have tried a new point system on to see if it was going to work and what did they? They played guinea pig with the top series on all there asinine rule changes.
If I was just starting to watch NA$CAR I might be able to go along with it like many of you kids and newbie have but I am not and I think it is the most insulting thing to make a race fan think for a second this is how a series would be run. Shame on these imbeciles for trying to mess racing up as we once knew it.

Might work, EXCEPT there would be too much turmoil in the garages.
Really need to go back to the old points system. Look at the stats since the "Chase" began. How many driver's would have fallen out of the top positions? How many drivers would have moved up to the top ten with potentially larger season end paydays, points, and better positions for next seasons start at Daytona. These guys race there butts off all season and then get the door slammed in there face even if they are just 1 point out of the top 12.

Racing is also about strategy and luck, If it were just about passing, we wouldn't need a track over 1/4 mile long with any turns, we could just let them drag race.
I'm not sure exactly what you're proposing here, are you saying that only 10 drivers drive the first leg of this elimination, and only two drivers are entered for the final race?
Try and sell this idea to the sponsors of the other cars who pay big bucks for the advertising they get every Sunday, and tell me if they think it's a good idea. While you're at it, ask the drivers if they want to surrender the money they make each race. Ask the pit crews if they want to surrender their paychecks for ten weeks. Then ask the fans if they would want to go in droves to watch 2 cars circle a track for 4 hrs to see who would win.

...This year and all the wrecks would be proof as to why it wouldn't work. You'd have drivers in there serving as "hit men" to try and take out other drivers. Never work. To many wrecks.
...Another thing to consider is lets say that Jeff Gordon has dominated all year and won 15 races. Then the first race of the chase he gets eliminated because that is the only track he is not good at or maybe he had a tire blow out.
...Again that type of situation would strip a deserving champion from the title with just one race. It wouldn't be fair.

Works for me... Sounds like there'd be more races ending in cautions though because they'd be more reckless trying to pass at the end. But I like there not being a points system, it's silly

Run it by Brian, he might like the idea. But really, the
best thing that they can do with the chase is to just
dump it all together.

Actually this is probably one of the best ideas I've heard, probably because it was one of the only ones I've actually considered good enough to read.
