So we just moved in to our new apartment and our fridge isn't going to be delivered until next week. What are some meals that I can cook daily without worrying that it will spoil?

We've done the whole hamburger helper thing and we're frankly sick of that. I go to the grocery store everyday because it's just around the corner, but I am running out of ideas. HELP.

Please and thank you :).

You can always get/borrow coolers to help with this...get a few perishables on ice to make things easier. If it is cold outside where you are, you can store some things in your vehicle or on the porch, IF you have it tucked away so you don't draw little woodland creatures to your buffet.

Parmesan cheese and baby bel cheese (little rounds of cheese covered in red wax) is great. Other hard cheeses work well without refrigeration.

You can buy milk in shelf stable containers (look for Parmelat or store brand equivalent, it is a cardboard box with a plastic lid, similar to boxes of broth), or use powdered and add per use.

Lots of produce does well without refrigeration: tomatos, potatos, cabbage, carrots, onions, garlic, apples, oranges, bananas, kiwi, pears.

For meats: there are pouches and cans of tuna, salmon, crab, chicken.

Miracle whip does NOT need to be refrigerated after opening. I know it seems strange but my residence hall cafeteria manager stored it in the pantry opened and never lost a single student. This is good for things like tuna salad. You can also mooch a few extra condiment packets from fast food places or friends' fridges and purses...to get all those "fridge door goodies" on the table.

There are nuts, seeds, dried fruits, etc. Check out backpacking websites for food ideas where there is never a fridge. You can substitute some of their lightweight dehydrated food with your own fresh ingredients as well as adapting it to indoor cooking methods to suit your situation.

Couscous is shelf stable, and cooks easily with just hot water. It is very flavorful when you rehydrate with broth instead of water.

You can use things like canned black beans, canned tomatos, canned pasta, canned soup, canned fruits and veggies...to get you through.

Make small enough portions that you don't have any leftovers to store. If you do have food leftover, try to eat it within the hour, or else toss it out.

You also might just find it easier to let your friends in on your dilemma and see if they will help feed you a few meals at their place this week, or go out to eat more often until you get your fridge. Your buddies can come over next week or after you get settled for a really fancy dinner, or you can take them out as a token of your appreciation.

I went to view my own refrigerator and my vegetable crisper has a lever to regulate the air circulate to that distinctive drawer. yet another drawer, the beef drawer, has a sprint vent which permits in cooler air. there's a available Drawer, the place the cheeses and puddings are stored, that's merely because it says, available. The Butter compartment is often closed, to ban airflow which might harden the butter's floor, or dry it out. My new gizmo filled refrigerator did no longer have an egg field nonetheless, so I appropriated an egg holder from the previous refrigerator. I additionally like the ridges on the sting of the cabinets that keep spilt products from going to the backside of the unit. :P who'd a thunk it.

if your late night eaters, like 9:00 maybe, alot of grocery store sell there deli foods(like the fried chicken, potato wedges, pasta salad, etc) for half price because they can't use it the next day, even if you don't have it half price, it's still a great meal, it wouldn't hurt to fall in love with cereal again, cereal is a good meal, or tv dinners are great cuz you can just pop it in the microwave, and it's a perfect single serving, you can have anything, individual pizzas, mac and cheese, meatloaf and potatoes, hot pockets, and you won't have leftovers

Do you have a cooler? I knew a woman who lived without a fridge for a month or 2, using a cooler.

If you're shopping every day, no fridge shouldn't be a problem. You can pick up fresh chicken or meat and veggies and cook them right up.

Unless it is really hot, anything made from fruit or veggies won't need refrigeration. Also, I make two big apple crumbles each week, and don't refrigerate them except in summer when the butter would go rancid. They'll last a week in winter.

There are cup noodles you can buy. Although you go to the grocery everyday, you can try checking at recipe.com for food that lasts longer even when not refrigerated.
