It could be a skin irritation, maybe change the shampoo you use to wash her and give her new bedding, if not it could be an infection and your vet may need to prescribe antibiotics.

My sister has an English Spaniel that has done the same thing. At first we thought it was due to changing his food but that didn't seem to be the issue, nor was it anything in the home. It seems the animal was sensitive to insect bites when he went outside to do his business. Her vet gives him a cortisone shot every six months now and he doesn't have that problem any longer. It costs her $40.00 each time she goes and money well spent to keep from seeing him chewing himself up. Good luck and wish you the best.

It could be a skin allergy or winter itch. (My dog gets so itchy in the winter she sometimes has to go on steroids to give her some relief.) But, it could also be something more serious like Mange. You really should get it checked out by a vet.
I give mine benadryl and it helps - but check with your vet first. You can also try Bactine - it will numb the area, plus it has an antiseptic (it doesn't tase very good either)

Does she have fleas? Dogs bite and scratch when they have fleas. If not, it could be a thyroid problem causing her to lose hair. Also, worse case scenario is mange. Either way, something is majorly wrong. Take the dog to the vet ASAP!

you would be able to desire to take him into the vet, that continuously spells mites under the floor, and Golden's are vendors to it. Have long gone by way of it with my Golden. he will obtain a shot, besides a topical, and no this does not pass away on it is very own,it gets worse. Take him in ASP.

my springer spaniel chewed her hair off come to find out she had a skin condition and we had to buy bee's wax and keep it on her plus had to make sure we kept flea medicine on her...the vet will be able to tell you just what to do..try a dog shampoo with oatmeal in it ..that helped my dog
