Its getting closer to that time of year again, and this time I have curious little hands that are gonna go crazy trying to get to the shiny pretty ornaments, I do not have anywhere to put it, but in the living room. How do you keep your children from destroying the decortations? Thank you :o)

This is really gonna be my first time dealing with this problem, because last year my son was 10 1/2 months and not quite so into everything. Now that he's almost 2, well...

My plan is to put nothing breakable on the bottom half of the tree, and keep the rest of the decorations to a minimum. We'll do up-high things, outside things, and my son's favorite, window clings (he loves to peel them off and put them back on). I'm also not going to put any gifts under the tree until the last minute.

Hopefully, it'll work!

The year my son was a toddler, I put the tree and all the gifts inside the playpen in the living room. He could toddle up to the outside of the playpen and look at the ornaments and lights, but couldn't tear them up or hurt himself.
He hated the playpen anyway, and cried whenever I put him in it---this was the best use I ever found for it!

You could also use a small tabletop tree if you have a formal dining area, but I thought the tree in the playpen was rather appropriate and ingenious that year!

The only other thing I could suggest would be to only use unbreakable ornaments and/or try to hang them higher out of reach. You might also try to block this room with a baby gate or something so that he wouldn't have free access unless you were close by to supervise.

Good luck!

well for 1 you could this year decorate the bottom half in non breakable or use ornaments your child made or helped make, also every time child trys to take ornaments off give them some kind of punishment, mine will be wierd to the tree for i have a kitten this year but i don't think u want to do that to your tree altho could be a option if your worried about some ornaments breaking

Well, you either go insane trying to make that happen, or you retire the breakable stuff until the kids are older, and stick to kid friendly decorations.
