He is turning 41. He does a lot of carpentry work. I was thinking clothes (which I get him like every year). My friend said tools... Which do you think he will appreciate more?

How about a gift certificate at Sears! If he needs some top secret tool no one else knows about, he can pick it out himself! There is no way to know what tools a man has in his head. And take him out to eat just you & him.......

Why not take your father out for supper? One on one would be absolutely wonderful. Since he is a carpenter I'm sure he has all the tools he needs. Why not ask what he would like for his birthday?
