If so how would you have the hairstylist cut your hair.
(I'm a guy)

I hardly blow dry my hair. I almost always towel dry my hair. I don't use hairspray or pomade products. I don't excessively comb my hair.

Just have him cut the split ends. split ends make it difficult for hair to continue growth so by getting maintanence hair cuts, (or trims), your hair will actually grow faster.

yes!! you need to get trims every once in a while. last year my hair grew down to almost my butt. i loved my long hair but i never got trims so i ended up having to cut it all off to my shoulders since it looked so dead. i blew dry and straightened it a lot. but yea im letting it grow back and i have been trimming it so that when it does grow back long it wont be dead. i learned the hard way. just trims nothing special

i'm pretty sure that all maintenance trims do is tidy up the ends to make your hair 'appear' healthy.

if you're a guy and (assuming) you don't constantly blow-dry, straighten or otherwise torture your hair, then you shouldn't need a 'maintenance' trim very often.

umm, well, i know a guy who has fairly long hair { or at least used to } and he cuts it ever 6 weeks, and his is shoulder length. I would recommend layers, i know a guy who has dark blonde hair with layers, and it looks very cute. but don't worry, if you think layers are too girl-ish, they aren't.

and thank you for growing out your hair, i love long hair on guys !

definitely- otherwise you would have split ends and dead ends. just have a 1/4 or 1/2 inch cut off to keep it healthy..
