"Norton 360" is one of the best "Software" Anti Virus not he plain "Norton AV 2007" edition..
It has added features that protects you from Hackers/spyware etc...
I tried it and really works it does protect you from threats that other Anti Virus don't do....Like the FREE AVG!!!
It sucks....
NOTE: Don't Install more than one Anti Virus it will have conflict with each other like Norton ,it will find your other Anti Virus a threat...!
But you can have more than one "Spyware/firewall etc..."
One of the best "Software AntiVirus" is..."Kaspersky & Nod 32"
hope this gives you Idea what to choose....
If you are having problem with "Norton" Un-Installed it..then Re-Installed it again...
That's the problem of Norton it hard to install at First...
But when you already Installed it it really works ok...I have it in my system
Don';t believe in the saying "The best thing in life are FREE"
Not on "Softwares" come to think of it..why do softwares makers do sell their products? If people can have it for free????
Coz the FREE AV don't completely Protects you ok..

I have used Norton(purchased from Costco) and I've used McAffee. But my ISP provides free Anti-Virus and Anti-Spy.
So I use it instead. It works just fine. If I get anything that my
current protection can't handle I uninstall it. Then I get my old Norton CD out and install it. It always solves the problem. Then I uninstall Norton and reinstall my ISP protection. Also you can solve some problems by doing a Sys Restore or if you have a Dell you can do a Dell Restore. All these things take time but they do work.

I love AVG. My son is a computer tech and he hates Norton. He says it puts itself all over your PC. He says he has a special cd just to get rid of it. It can also slow your machine down with all it's stuff.

From personal experience, I have found Avast is good. The Home edition is free for download, but it's good enough to keep out most of the gooky stuff off your PC. AVG is good as well from what I've heard, but I had problems with it too - maybe I wasn't its type ;-) !

I also hate Norton. I'm using Avira Antivir right now - not the premium, but the personal edition...It is still updating. My friend also has Avira and runs it side by side with AVG.

I installed AVG on a friend's computer and they had problems with it. I removed it and installed Avast. It has been working perfectly.
