People were more litigatious in biblical days than they are now. A slap in the face was considered more an insult than an act of violence. People sued others for slapping them in the face. When Jesus said to 'turn the other cheek', he was saying that it was the mature response. It was better to get insulted twice than to take the matter to court.

He says turn your "left" cheek. So if someone hits you an the right it would be an insult slap because they would be using their backhand as they used their right hand for this and their left hand for sanitary things. If they presented their "left" cheek then the aggressor would be in two minds whether to hit or not as it would become a forehand hit which would constitute an assault and they would get arrested for it, so Jesus is saying to the person "Now I'm in control" so really turn the other cheek is using a non violent way of getting the upper hand, it is not letting people walk over you at all

Jesus means that if someone does you wrong you don't retaliate, you actually pray for the person. Pray that God blesses them in spite of how they have wronged you. In no way does that mean let people run over you. You can be in control of how others treat you, especially if they are people in your circle. You should set the standards for whats acceptable to say or do to you. That stems from confidence....confidence in God.

Means we shouldn't retaliate to violence with the same. Wize on the small scale, on the large scale pretty foolish.
You should learn how to decipher/understand parables, analogies and cryptic statements if you wish to read the bible.

No not at all what it means is if you are pushing your beliefs on someone who doesnt want it and they slap you then you are to stop and walk away now if you are not causing a situation and a bully walks up and punches you are to defend yourself.

Run over us? No, on the contrary, it is a lesson in forgiveness.

No, there is more to it than you have mentioned. As usual, it can easily be taken out of context because you've failed to give ALL the details.
