Religion does not provide Salvation!!! Never has or will!!! People in the O.T. times looked Forward to the Cross & they Believed in Gods' Promise to send a Savior in order to be "Saved". We look Back to the Cross Believing in Christs Perfect Work for our Salvation. John

How are we saved? By the grace of God, in that by faith in Jesus Christ, who came and died on the cross and is the only way. That is faith in the Messia, Jesus Christ.

He was prophecied many times throughout the Old Testament. If you look in Genesis, the very first two people were Adam and Eve. We know that they committed the first sin. but look in Genesis 3:15. God is speaking to them here and this is the very first prophecy of Jesus coming and His victory.

Satan would have brief victory in making man fall, but Christ wins by defeating death and making a way for salvation. This, just as all those in the Old Testament, had faith in that Savior....except, this was faith that He WOULD come, as He had not yet. The still had faith in Him. The believed.

That faith is what saves them, in believing God's words. There were none before Adam and Eve, so there was never a time when human kind had not already been told of the coming of Jesus Christ.

Religion does not need the organization that we see today. I think knowledge of God came before that. Although it probably was more primative, we all have it written on our hearts to know and love God. This is how it was done. Going to hell is dependent on knowledge. If you do not know better, your responsibility is lessened.

You don't need religion. You need a belief in the one true God. As long as you have that you are going to heaven.

The catholic church teaches that they will not go to hell, but each one of them had the chance to go to heaven as christians has.

Also, the catholic church teaches that people (living now) from all religions have the same chance to go to heaven as christians have, because God is just, and because Christ died for all mankind.

Even today everyone is judged by their honest, sincere and informed conscience. That has always been true even back in those days.
