First of all, there is nothing that will kill flea eggs. All the products mentioned above work on the adult and larval stage. It kills the adults, does nothing to the eggs, they have to hatch and come into contact with the medication and absorb it........it prevents them from molting into the next stage of developement.
Another thing, most flea eggs drop off the pet after being laid by the flea. So the flea eggs will be in the cat's environment, especially concentrated where the cat likes to spend most of its time.
Eggs are small and white or translucent.....kind of like lice nits that you might find on kids....
If you are finding lots of pepper like stuff in the haircoat of your cat that is flea poop. Give your cat a bath to get rid of that stuff. Put Revolution, Frontline or Advantage on to prevent reinfestation. Also, be on the look out for tapeworms, as a cat having a flea problem will mostlikely also have tapeworms. (Fleas carry the laval stage of tapeworms, cat ingests a flea, tapeworm completes life cycle in cat intestines). To my knowledge, Strongid does not treat a tapeworm infection. It is not over the counter, need to get if from the vet, they will want to run a fecal test to make sure its the only parasite there.

Go to pet meds .com and purchase Advantage for cats. First bathe or have your cat bathed with a good flea shampoo. You will also want to wash all bedding and vacuum and treat the carpet, (boric acid from pet smart is good), treat all cushions and wash all bedding etc. that your pet has come into contact with as flea eggs GO EVERYWHERE! After all of the above is done apply the Advantage as directed and it is also important to vacuum every day more than once per day and immediatly empty the vacuum EACH time as the eggs live on inside and may hatch later. Fleas in the larvel stage can live in a state of hibernation for up to 7 years so it is very important to treat thouroghly. One last thing, fleas carry tapeworms and when your dog or cat scratches and bites to relieve the biting and itch they often ingest fleas and end up with tapes, which are sooo gross! If you look in places your pet hangs out and you see what look like little dry whitish grains of rice you have tapes and the pet will also need several doses of medication, such as Strongid. Good luck!

Frontline Plus or Advocate are both spot-ons that kill the flea eggs and larvae as well as the adult fleas. Advantage and Revolution do not, but are still good products.

Frontline plus kills adults, larvae, and eggs.
I prefer revolution though. It kills adult fleas and prevents the eggs from hatching. Also treats round worms, hookworms, ear mites and prevents heartworm. Good stuff.
