I got a 9 week old rescue kitten on Thurs. night, I took her directly to the vet due to fleas. She got her first booster and the 1st dose of revolution for her fleas. On Friday, after being very lethagic and not eating or drinking, I took her back to the vet -- the vet confirmed that she has a parasite (coccidia) and prescribed antiobiotics.

She has had the antibiotics for 4 days now .. yesterday she seemed to be getting better, but tonight she threw up again and she is going to the bathroom outside of litterbox (this is a new thing). She has not been playful at all .. she holds the attention of a fish on a string moving, but doesn't really swat at it. She likes to be held and petted and to

She did not eat well again today (we forced some HILLS presceibed soft food - not sure if we did enough) but is drinking a bit (not as much as I am thinking she should have).

she meowed alot tonight, is she hungry? Should I wait a couple of more days to see if the med's carry her through?

You need to take her to the vet because the antiobiotics are not working and may be making her worse. I would not wait any longer but try to get her to eat soem more food like a tablespoon or two.

You need to be telling your vet all this, not us! We haven't seen the animal, we didn't prescribe the medication - and we're not vets.

Please keep the vet informed of your animal's progress at all times when he's undergoing treatment. Otherwise how can they help you? If they don't hear from you, they'll assume all is well!

If your vet is not open right now, still call the number, there will be an emergency number you can refer to for advise. Don't be taking medical advice from anyone on here, however well meaning!

I recommend steamed rice and chicken. What it does is cleans out their intestine system. It works miracles. Your baby cat is probably just having a reaction to the antibiotics. If you take them to the vet they will either give you more meds or tell you about the chicken and rice diet.
If you havev other cats give them the same (it will only help them). Some cat food has too much protein for a baby cat to digest. It also helps with coccidia.
Give her attention and keep the diet until you see an improvement in her poop. She may not want to go in the box for many reasons; scent, type of litter, the box is too high (that was mine).

Good luck!

It could be lots of things but a call to the vet is certainly warranted. She could be having a reaction to the Revolution or to the antibiotics themselves. Kittens can go downhill extremely fast--if she isn't eating or drinking much she will dehydrate. Try using an eyedropper and give her some children's pedialyte solution or some KMR (Kitten replacement milk, available at Petsmart, etc.) and try hand feeding her some baby food chicken flavor. Dip your finger into the jar and let her lick your finger. You may have to stick your finger right into her mouth the first few times. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

properly proper right here the respond is sensible : your kitten demands to look a vet, quickly. we are able to all speculate approximately what's unsuitable together with her, although merely a vet can diagnose her and take care of her for this reason.. Sneezing and runny eyes is often cat flu or allergies. Bleeding eyes is frequently a sign of conjunctivitis, it is fairly contagious to distinctive animals and demands to be dealt with.. The longer you bypass away her untreated, the greater effective the possibility of irreversible injury will boost.. do not attempt to living medicate, you will superb make concerns worse. you may sparkling her eyes by way of way of wiping them (from the interior out) with damp cotton wool and sterile water (once you have any) or in sparkling water that has been boiled (enable it cool in the previous than using in spite of the incontrovertible fact that) yet i can't rigidity satisfactory : take her to a vet.

Definitely give your vet a call. They may need to change the antibiotic or even give her I.V. fluids.

9 week kits can dehydrate quickly, so call your vet first thing in the morning.

Was she tested for Felv/FIV? Call your vet tomarrow and let them know that she's not doing better since on the antibiotics were started.
