Martini Rossi is a vermouth which added to gin makes a martini . Martini is usually 3 to 5 parts gin to 1 vermouth depending on whether you like the gin taste to the wine taste. The asti is more of a wine . Martinis are usually garnished with green olives. Very potent.

Martini & Rossi Asti is a nasty version of Champagne. YUCK.
If you want to try a martini try a "Dirty Martini" YUMMY

Scale ingredients to servings
2 oz gin or Vodka
1 tbsp dry vermouth
2 tbsp olive juice
2 olives

1. Place an ice cube and a small amount of water in a cocktail glass. Place in freezer for 2 - 3 minutes.

2. Fill a mixer with all ingredients including garnish. Cover and shake hard 3 - 4 times.

3. Remove cocktail glass from freezer, and empty. Strain contents of the mixer into the cocktail glass, include one of the olives, and serve with a mysterious smile.

Martini & Rossi is a brand of sparkling wine or champagne. An actual martini is made with vodka, a splash of vermouth, and a green olive. Pour a shot of vodka into a shaker of ice, and add the splash of vermouth. Shake these, and pour into a chilled martini glass. Put the olive onto the top of the drink. That's a perfect martini. Enjoy slowly.

One of the most popular martinis is the traditional gin variety, or as one of my favorite joints call them, an Aston Martini (or Gin Aston). Essentially, this jewel is made of gin, extra dry white vermouth, ice and garnished with a green olive or lemon rind. While I love a lemon twist more than the next guy, nothing comes close to substituting the added concentration that comes from the olive as it attacks the gin concoction.
Extra dry means you wave the closed bottle above it!
Red Vermouth can be had straight or with bourbon, a smashed cube of sugar and dash of bitters as an Old-fashioned; garnish with a cherry with an orange slice wrapped around it!

Vermouth. And make it with green olives. This adds a certain amount of salt from the brine used to keep the olives. If you use a cocktail onion, you have a Gibson.
