Your observation is accurate and drives home one of the main sources of contempt I have for these hypocrites. I did say contempt and I mean it. I think it is better to come right out and say it rather than imitate their phony smile that they sport while looking you in your eyes and stating that you will burn in hell forever unless you believe. I’m not the most intelligent person around and I don’t choose not to believe; I cannot believe. The story is too far fetched and full of holes. The person (God is Love) who answered this question smugly states, “Don’t shoot the messenger.” And, justifies his immorality by stating that even Christians are going to burn if they don’t listen to the messenger, as if their lives are of more significance; further stating that it doesn’t even matter. Additionally, this puppet goes on with, “… So if you got a beef, go to God he loves to answer your questions. Get on your knees; at least be polite if you need to ask the King a question.” When I was still young, gullible, and foolish I did ask god questions; simple and direct questions. Never once did I receive an answer. This is exactly the kind of person you are talking about. We are expected to grovel on our knees for answers to legitimate questions to a god who supposedly loves us? Then you have (C.L. Richardson) stating, “People choose hell for themselves. No one chooses cancer.” Neither I, nor anyone in their right mind would choose hell if it was reasonable to believe that heaven or hell even existed. The problem is it’s not a reasonable belief. There has been no reliable messenger for this story. If anything, the Bible has got to be one of the most ridiculous, ludicrous, and totally absurd pieces of literature ever written and if this is the best god can do as far as relaying ‘his’ word, then no decent and moral person with any degree of intelligence will ever stand a chance of avoiding this hell. They whine when I ridicule them or use sarcasm, but they don’t believe in logic or even simple morality or empathy for their fellow humans so what else can I do? This is why I have said on many occasions that Atheists have a stronger ethical system and live to a higher set of moral standards than most Theists. Perhaps I am an exception because I am unable to shake the contempt for these kinds of people. I'm working on it, but I have not been able to overcome it.

Well made point!
I agree 100%. Even though I do not believe there is a heaven or a hell, I know what the concept Christianity has about them. To wish the utmost terrible thing on a person for all eternity is indeed a cruel and vile act. I would not wish eternal pain and suffering on anyone, yet they throw the phrase about casually.

I am a Christian. I have NEVER told anyone that they are going to hell. I am not God, I am not fit to judge anyone but myself. I would never wish pain on anyone. I can assure you I am not happy, or smug or wishing any thing bad on anyone. If someone is gloating over the pain of someone else they are NOT a Christian.

But you would concede that many Christians do NOT want people to go to hell, hence they warn of the dangers of not accepting Christ. Some say this is scare tactics, but if you want someone to take a medicine you better convince them that they are sick and need it. I had to go to the doctor once for an ear infection and he gave me some medicine, I didn't say, "How dare you! "Take this medicine or you will suffer!". I took the medicine! Sin is the infection, hell is the danger, Christ is the medicine.
"Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed , and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, O house of Israel? For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!" Ezekiel 17:30

just because someone says that they are a "christian" doesn't mean it is true. they may believe it, but it is the expample of ones life that really shows whether or not they are. matthew 7:15-23 says, "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' and this one,
Luke 6:37-38 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
by these words of God, where does it sound like these so called christians will go Heaven? or hell. Peace.

I agree with you wholeheartedly... the christians who wish the idea of a hell on anyone are extraordinarily mean hearted.
Even thought there is no hell... it's really creepy knowing they believe it and actually wish it on others...

I see it and I hear it. It does not bother me in the least. If I thought there was a heaven or hell, God or Gods, maybe I would stop and consider their blarney. Knowing it is all fabricated crap and Imaginary BS, I can't conceive of it bothering anyone.

It's certainly UnChristlike, that's for sure.
And I agree with you - I have yet to meet an Atheist that would wish someone purposeful harm.

"They aren't real Christians"
The Universal explination
Oh my other favorite. "You choose it which wipes us of all blame for being insensitive jerks"
They fail to stop and try to see other people's point of view for fear that thier god will be mad at them. I don't get it either.
