You have to be over 5'7" and a size 4 or smaller. You have to know how to play for the camera. You have to hook up wtih a commercial photographer or local agent who actually gets work and likes you. Then you build a portfollio.

First, get started on your portfolio. Try www.onemodelplace.com, or www.modelmayhem.com, and start with a free model profile. Thru these sites, you can contact other models, photographers, MakeUp Artists, stylists, etc... You can get their opinions, and work with many of them on portfolio development. A process called TFP/cd, or "trade for photos on CD" will let you get some phtoos to use for your portfolio, nd profile, for little or no expense.

To be succesful, it takes a lot of work to model succesfully, for a long period.

Things that could help, are to stay in shape. Keep your cardio in top shape. Modeling can be taxing...

Practice wearing the highest heels you can. Make them your everyday shoes, and get comfortable walking, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, etc.... No matter what you model, heels will be a part of the outfit. The more comfortable you look, the better when auditioning. A pair of high heeled boots wont hurt.

Learn as much as you can about skin care and hair care. Dont let anything effect them in a negative manner. Treat them well.

Learn the business side of things, from contract negotiations, to copyright and releases. Also, learn about 1099's, taxes, obligations of contract employees, and things like healthcare, insurance, etc... Always understand what your getting into.

It can be a heartbreaking business if your not tough. Just because the first 10-15 auditions dont get you a job, doesnt mean you wont find one. Sometimes they will have 20-300 models audition for just a few jobs.

Practice your looks and facial expressions. Use a mirror, or video camera. If you can learn to give a look easily during am audition, the better. It is not easy to be told to look serious, and give a serious look. Chances are, you will give a furious look, or even a funny look, but not serious.

Join any local groups for models, photogs, etc..., and do as much networking as you can. Make a good impression at a get together, and you will have a step up during an audition.

There are lots of people out there that will try to take advantage of you. Dont let them. Assume everyone is lying to you, and make sure your protected physically, and legally.

i googled getting started in modeling, and that showed up.

instead of just wanting to be a model, i think you need to have the passion and not only that but the looks and the attitude. :)

good luck
