Atheists, just how do we create a concept of an infinite God? I've heard it stated many times by atheists, that we create our own 'God Myth'. Give me an example of an infinity, that a single mind made up with, without hearing it from someone else. It would seem to me that the modern concepts of infinity, are the result of many years of effort and thought by many people. I'm looking for an example of an infinity, that occured in a single, finite mind because I suspect that person must be very wise.

An infinite thing is one that doesn't end... finite, having the same root as 'finish', describes something that has an ending. If we negate that idea, we get the infinite. Infinity, if you'll forgive my naivete for a moment, is one of the most common numbers in nature, right up there with one and zero. It is natural that religions will seek to incorporate it into their dogma.

Math is exact language. I forget who said this, but math is "specific about what generalizes". If we want to describe nature exactly, we use math. If the truth can be expressed, it will be through a math. Religion, the Great Lie, will seek to incorporate into itself as much truth as can fit.

And I agree, we have greatly refined our concept of infinity from my naive definition. Cantor especially. Still, it's a natural idea.

Look at the universe or at least what we can see with powerful telescopes.

Then get a powerful microscope and look organisms.

Then wake up to a infinite God.
