It can. However, you've taken the major first step in its recognition to the possibility. Now, you need to take the next step. Outline the irrationality and figure out if this particular thing/situation/circumstance is really to be classified as "irrational". What may be irrational to some, may certainly not be to others. Say for instance someone suffers from panic attacks. You and I both know that most who hear of someone suffering a panic attack, that it's usually viewed as a "wimping out", or a weakness, of sorts, and that the person should just lighten up, or toughen up. Say this person began suffering from these attacks after a profound event happened in their life and they've been experiencing these attacks since that time. The thing to do would be to get to the root of the cause, right? What triggered these panic attacks? How is this root cause to be dealt with? What are the steps to evaluate and remedy the root cause so that panic attacks can, possibly, be a thing of the past, for this person, and that they can be on their way to healing and carry on with their normal life? Coming back to your situation, this seemingly irrational point in your life that took place three weeks ago, needs to be evaluated. I hope that I've been of some help. I don't have a PhD in Psychiatry, but I do have a husband that experienced rock-bottom low points in his life (causing depression/panic attacks), and a mother who has depression and panic disorder. I realize you may not fit in this category, but what I mean is that your situation calls for some attention with the possibility of talk therapy. Let a professional evaluate your situation so that the both of you together may be able to arrive at the next step. Please, above all, you need to use your good judgement and evaluate your professional candidates thoroughly. No one size fits all. You'll be able to determine who would be the right candidate for you by trusting yourself. Lastly, do not immediately jump to meds, if you can help it. It may be that all that you need is to discuss issues and to get to the root and very strongly evaluate them so that you may be able to understand that particular event that took place in your life, and deal with it on your terms. Jumping to meds is bad news except for extreme psychiatric cases. Good luck to you to whatever you decide for your health.

But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

Yes. It can cause temporary depression and if the anxiety and or the depression don't get relieved they can become chronic. Also anxiety can be one of the symptoms of depression. Sometimes we are depressed and things bother us more than if we weren't depressed. We also sometimes worry more and are more anxious.

Yes.

There are pills out there to treat anxiety disorders, if that's what you have.

But if it's only been going on for three weeks...

Well, I'd love to be able to help more, but I'm not sure what triggered your anxiety. If it's a situation you're dealing with, I would suggest some relaxation techniques. Take a long walk, meditate or pray, take a long bath, listen to relaxing music, BREATHE, take up yoga or some other kind of exercise (tai chi, tai bao...), get a massage, get a manicure or pedicure...
