You are absolutely right. They are exactly the same. The subtle differences mean nothing. Usually they're white details on a white dress....they do not show up in pictures, and in person they do not show up unless you're up close. A $2000 dress will look the same as a $200 dress (for the most part, although *possibly* the material of the more expensive one will be nicer).
PLEASE do not buy the "white, strapless, straight-across the chest, floor-length, beaded bodice gown that flares out princess style at the waist and has a corsetted back. PLEASE do not do that to yourself. Go on any website that has used gowns for sale, or people's wedding pics and you will see how ridiculous it looks...every single girl in the same dress. Oh, for the love of actually beautiful dresses, be different!

There are popular styles that tend to look the same, but take it from someone who tried on about 50 dresses, they're all different. They feel different they look different up close. A $200 dress can't pass for a $2000 dress in most cases, it's all in the materials and the amount of handwork that goes into the dress.

Yes, they do start to look similar- but when you go, go to a local bridal shop, and they might have their own designer- mine did, and so I got a dress that was unique. I love my dress! And I took the last of my dress! :) The details on the dresses are what I looked for-there really are many different styles out there once you start to try them on. I can't find my dress-or one similar to it online at all. I'm glad though :)

Fashions come and go, so a few years ago everyone was wearing big puff sleeves for example, now the style seems to be more strapless bodices, it's all about fashion and what is viewed as "hot or not" for that particular year.

They pretty much are. strapless, white, long, puffy.
I can't even count how many stores I've had to go through to try and find my dress. All I want is a little sleevage but I guess they assume if you don't want strapless you must be a grandma and want a shapeless sack of a dress. ugh!
