i read that the some german scientists were fairly close to making a nuclear weapon.

but as hitler did not find a 'cowardly' weapon appealing and also they were losing the war, they tried to send the plans to japan, in a U-boat..... but the sub was destroyed.

is this true or complete bull poop?

Fathead is correct. The Nazis DID send things to Japan via U-boat -- airplanes, etc.. But I've not read anything about Hitler trying to share that sort of technology. Hitler had made numerous mistakes about the employment of advanced weapons. Utilizing the Me-262 as a bomber is a prime example.

No. The Germans were still a long way from producing a working atomic weapon As for Hitler detesting it as a "cowardly weapon," what the hell do you think the V1 and V2 rockets were? They were terror weapons directed at the civilian population of England.

The Japanese nuclear program was based in North Korea. They had a couple of cyclotrons that we dumped into the ocean at the end of the war, but they were still a long way from producing a workable weapon. North Korea has made some claims that their program is a continuation of the Japanese program, based on research and documents left behind at the end of the war.

The V series which hit London were pretty close to being Nukes. And, yes, they were close to developing the nuclear arms. As a matter of fact, pretty much all those scientist involved in either the USSR or US space program came from Germany, either escaping during the war ore being recruited at the end otf it.

Bad news, you might say they did! The discovery of the atom Bomb is to a few german scientist that found refuge in the United States. Even though it was built in America, it was invented by germans. Thats the way it is. But yes plans was smuggled out along with other stuff. The rest of the story is the Scientist was jewish!

No! The Germans were close but could not get their design to function it was also massive in size and they could not figure out how to reduce its size to be deliverable from any plane in their inventory.

They sent Plutonium to Japan, but Germany surrendered and all U-Boats were ordered to surface and surrender to Allied Warships, this particular boat was carrying two Japanese Officers who took poison to avoid capture, the Plutonium was handed over to the Americans, who incorporated it into their bombs, and it was delivered to Japan but not in the way originally intended.

No. While they did have an ambitious nuclear program housed in a veritable mad-scientist-lair of a huge bunker, they were never that close to a practical nuke.

No, they didn't. They were close but not close enough.

If Hitler had the bomb he would have used it without a second thought.
