What about the quality of the videos?

The megapixels are for the still pictures it can take. You'll be able to print beautiful 4X6's and 5X7's. You might notice pixelation on 8X10's and larger.

To determine how good the video is on the camera you'll need screen resolution. 200X300 is somewhat equivalent to VHS quality. 400X700 is approximately equivalent to miniDV. And for HD you're looking for either 720X1080 or 1080X1920.

The mega pixels is for the still pictures. SD video requires only 0.3 mp on miniDV and HD video 2 mp on HDV.

Not really, definitely beats my 3.1 piece of junk =D
Although the standard today is like 7-8, which is a LOT.
