The company announced that they would remove the word Christmas from their promotion because they don't want to offend anyone. I like the word Christmas as it was used for over 2000 years. Because of that I would not buy from them this year. May be they should say...We remove the word Christmas to favor other customers and hope we make more money. Will be interested to see if they make more or less money. (Note: it seems to be stupid to say not to offend anyone when they are offending someone already)

No one eats cookies because of Christ, so the cookies themselves have nothing to do with a particular religious holiday. They do, however, fit well with the holiday season, and in a country which was founded in part on religious freedom, it makes sense not to use a single word which limits the purpose, given that there are a lot of holidays at this time of year. I didn't hear the announcement, and if she did say that they would "remove" the word Christmas, it was probably not the best way to make that particular announcement, but my guess is that it won't make much of a difference. They'll lose a few customers like you and gain some who wouldn't have bought "Christmas" cookies..

There are a lot of holidays this time of year. Why alienate those of other faiths? Stop being so ethnocentric and realize that there isn't any offense being directed toward you, the idea is a welcoming attitude toward others.
