1. If sugar has the potential to cause adverse health effects why isn't it generally thought of as being toxic?

a. Sugar does not have the potential to have an adverse impact on health and therefore cannot be toxic.

b. Sugar is not a microorganism and only microorganisms can be classified as toxic.

c. Sugar is a pathogen, and thus it is not toxic.

d. Large quantities must be consumed before it causes harm

frankly, this belongs in homework, not health, but for what it is worth, I don't think any of the answers are appropriate. There are those for whom even a minor amount of sugar can be deadly, diabetics, but for the general population, would have to say d.
Primarily because none of the statements above d are true at all.

Sugar, on its own..isn't toxic but if you eat large quantities of it for long periods of time, you could develop insulin resistance/Type II Diabetes. Everything in moderation, I say.
