...your wages would go up (smaller labor pool), your taxes would go down (smaller welfare roles, etc), your rent would decrease (less over-crowding), the traffic would die down, some hospitals could re-open, and the schools would be less crowded?

Ryan, I totally agree that we need to end the welfare state. However getting the people off the welfare roles who should not even be here in the first place would be an important step in the right direction. My conclusions are not wrong, except that lettuce probably wouldn't go up too much... that is one of the arguments the pro illegal alien crowd uses, however, so I decided to use it to demonstrate the reality of the situation.

I am not randomly "targeting" a group of people just for giggles... I am asking that immigration laws be enforced, which is not an unreasonable request.

Hate to bust YOUR bubble, sexy mama, but illegal aliens cost waaaaaaayyyyy more than whatever small amount of taxes they sporadically pay. There wont be less people paying taxes, there will just be less people.

Years ago, most of us knew something ugly was going on because the illegal aliens were showing up at the welfare office with their children, and applying for WIC's welfare. That is, Women with Children support. The complaint was, the illegal aliens were 'borrowing' their neighbors children and presenting them at the office as their own. the WIC's payment went way up with that sort of thing. In any case, people started looking and then complaints rolled in, and things got very ugly.

i paid two bucks for lettuce today. so what. I dont care how much it costs. I really think if they got rid of all the illegals, the price would hike up but eventually go down when these employers pay a lawful wage. There are enough ppl that can do this and will do this. There are millions of ppl here and im sure someone would do it, just like work at mcd's, or clean hotel rooms. Someone would do it whether it is a teenager, a person released from prison, a LEGAL immigrant or a welfare to work citizen. There are plenty of people.
Its not justifable to say people can break the law to pick vegies. WE DONT NEED YOU. Get the message out. YOU NEED US and so does the entire world. Why else would people come from all over the world to be legal here. This is retarded and they will say anything so that their loved ones can stay. Crazy but, you broke the law and now you pay. This is our government and if you dont like it you can lump it and stay. Do the right thing and come legally like everyone else.

I guess you saw the CNN show with the Lettuce farmer. He's a liar. I grew up on a farm and picked veggies on other farms.

Farmers were hiring illegals back when it was very easy to find Americans to do the work. That is the real reason why so many Americans stopped doing farm work, even in small farm towns, not the other way around.

They always remember the order backwards.

Hell sure! i does not pay that lots for Iceburg lettuce ever. it isn't any longer even high quality lettuce. in case you opt for genuine sturdy lettuce, have Romain Lettuce. And, as for Iceburg, as quickly as I even have offered a head of it for taco evening, it replaced into like sixty 9 cents for a medium-sized one. =/

If this question is about illegal immigration I think you are very much mistaken about the conclusions you draw. The problems with illegal immigration (to the extent they exist) are do to the welfare state, not do to a new pool of workers existing. The problems hospitals are having are due to laws that require them to treat people regardless of the ability to pay. I think it would be wise for people who are concerned with these issues to focus on ending the welfare state and not targeting a group of people who just want a better life.

I have no problem paying more for fruits and veggies, to reduce illegal immigrates, what we pay on the front end will more than be balanced by the reduction of cost for the social cost of educating the illegals, health care and the cost of their anchor babies

I don't buy lettuce. I prefer kale or chard - very easy to grow in a backyard garden, better for you and tastier, too.

Fact is that the price difference would be insignificant, compared to what we would save elsewhere. We would save billions in the end.
