What are you willing to give up to stop it? What do you do now? What do you think that the rest of the world needs to do and to you think the effects of that are worth it?

First, I have not been convinced that man is the cause behind global warming. I can see why others would be though, with the amount of propaganda and misinformation that is being passed off as scientifically proven hard evidence. On this point, we will have to agree to disagree. I want to ask you something though, do you honestly think we humans can stop it? Are you willing to do what it takes? Do you realize that the only way you can completely stop global warming, if man is the cause, would be to put a limit on population and revert back to a totally primitive lifestyle or come up with an economical cheap non polluting energy source which is practical to put into use. Anything else that you do, only prolongs the inevitable. Almost every single source of energy in the world today, creates pollution. I realize that there are forms which do not pollute, like solar and wind energy but they are not cheap nor economically able to be put in use everywhere. They could not come close to supplying the need for energy that we humans have today. Now when you consider this fact, look around you at all your possessions. Do you realize that their is an energy using factory that produces all these objects from the little plastic things wrapped around your sneaker laces to hairspray. Then you have energy using vehicles which transport these items to the store. Then you have the store itself, which uses energy for everything from keeping food cold to powering the electric doors so they open when you approach the store. Then we use energy when we drive to the store to buy these products. When then take them home and after we remove these items from the packaging, we toss it in the trash. This then has to be hauled to a dump, again, by a vehicle that uses energy. This happens for every single item that you purchase. I would like you to go through your house and count how many objects you have made yourself. Not many, huh? You honestly think that by changing your normal light bulbs to fluorescent ones or by taking any of the other actions recommended by environmentalist, that you are making a dent? I don't think so. You are not even coming close if you want to stop global warming. Just for arguments sake, lets say that everyone in this country and in all economically advanced countries, does enough where they start making a small dent in the problem. How long do you think it will last with the population increasing the way it is? Look at China for instance. They have one of the fastest growing populations of a country to date and they could care less about global warming. Between this and all of the people in third world nations, who cannot afford to live greenly any changes we make will only be canceled out by these people. Now you also have to consider that by just being alive we are adding to global warming by breathing. Every time we exhale, we put carbon into the atmosphere, and this is going to increase as population increases. Now considering this, are you willing to live as the Native Americans lived and are you willing to giving up most modern conveniences? Are you willing to tell other people they are not allowed to have children, because it is adding to global warming, because anything else you do is basically a moot point and doing nothing to save the planet. If anything is accomplished, it will be an insignificant slowing of global warming. Basically, I think people are deluding themselves when they say the things they do help to save the planet. The truth of it is, the only thing their actions are accomplishing is making them feel good about themselves.

I think I already did. I only have two children, I would have rather had 12 or more. But, I don't think giving things up is the actual long term cure. Either we open space to all mankind or inevitibly we are doomed. If not from global warming then any number of natural disasters, some of which we have only vague hints of, or by our own ingenuity. If nothing else, this sun will not last forever. For the moment, global warming is the immediate problem, but a wise man will look for solutions that help with the other problems.

I think this is an excellent statement. If global is man made, as these people state, then they should be doing everything in their power to change. This includes getting rid of their cars, not using any electricity from a carbon source, not consuming any food that had any influence from machinery using fossil fuels. These people are such hypocrites, the world is coming to an end as we know it, and they do little to nothing to change.. and recycling a few cans here and there doesn't count. I believe that their actions suggest they are simply bandwaggoners who go with the flow. Green this, green that, but don't take away my car.... that would really be inconvenient.

The Earth has been lots warmer than that's now. during the age of the dinosaurs, plant life replaced into in abundance via very heat climates. that's why the dinosaurs have been so vast; that they had an incredible variety of food. people ought to income from warming climates too. the problem is that we are making it difficult to comply with speedy environmental differences via fact we've stepped forward rigid actual (infrastructure -- homes, etc.) and political societies that functionality properly specially in purely the environments for which they have been equipped. it is totally intense priced to tear down homes and build new ones whilst water stages upward thrust and fall and powerful farming land is destroyed. And differences in the place vegetation would properly be grown effectively and the place the applicable water aspects are would reason vast wars. the problem with worldwide warming theories is that people think of that we are in the applicable climate now. properly, actual people have benefited over the final hundreds of years via fact the Earth has warmed. no count if we are going to income much greater from extra climate warming sessions won't be general. I even tend to think of that guy-made worldwide warming is extremely a hoax. and whether it is real, i do no longer think of we are able to make a brilliant sufficient impact to wreck ourselves. And NO, we can not wreck the Earth. however the Earth would be destroyed by way of worldwide warming whilst the solar dies out and it grows very super in direction of the tip of its life.

Well, lets see.

I'm willing to have mre energy efficient housing and lighting--and the money I'll save.

I'm willing to have less smog ad cheaper electricity from wind and solar power--and the money I'll save.

I'm willing to have mas transit, with the attendant lack of air pollution, less traffic, and cheaper transportation intown--and the money I'll save

I'm willing to have high-mileage cars, and eventually electric cars--also with less pollution--and since they're cheaper to operate, the money I'll save.

The idea that we have to "give up" and "sacrifice" to have a clean environment isa scare tactic--propaganda by the fossil fuel industry. The truth is their energy production technology is outdated--it come sfrom the 1800s--is expensive, and once modern technologies get a real foothold in the market, coal and oil are done for.

So--I'm not willing to "give up" anything. I am sick and tired of having to give up a supstantial amount ofmoney and quality of life just to keep some oil company executives supplied with caviar and call girls.

Some people who are into global warming change their lifestyle. Some people who don't believe in global warming change their lifestyles also. They aren't very drastic changes if you think about it. One thing I do not understand is how scientists believe that life on Earth was created by carbon dioxide in volcanoes, but we are now being destroyed by carbon dioxide.

Most people won't change a thing in their lives. I guess people just think that nothing they could do would make a difference anyway. I'm not a hypocrite here.....I believe in global warming and no, I haven't changed anything about my life.
