See a Doctor or substance abuse counselor as soon as possible. Allow a professional to assess your situation and recommend a treatment plan.

God Bless and Good Luck as well.

I have helped many people detox off of many kinds of drugs and alcohol including myself years ago...Vicodin is a very weak kind of pain killer but can be just as addicting as other much stonger drugs. I suggest that you cut yourself down slowly as to avoid any bad withdrawal effects. Without knowing the amount you are on it is harder to tell you what to do...say you are taking 4 a day, go to 31/2 a day for a month, and wean yourself off slowly to avoid any physical or mental problems. If you go down 1/2 mg a month you should be able to do this without much discomfort and be clean and drugfree in a matter of months. The only problem I see with telling your doctor is that thewy may cut all of your meds off and tell you to go to a detox unit which start at 6,000 for a 30 day visit. You may also lose your job which will make you more depressed. So keep yourself busy, work out and find a good friend or therapist to talk to about how you may have gotten yourself so addicted in the first place. You need to heal yourself and then figure out the real reason you would take that many meds to get addicted. As vicoden is a light pain killer do you still have any pain? How about your job as stress would make you want the feeling that pain killers give you. Emotional stress from a partner may also cause you to take pills. So fix the symtom and then the problem and if you would like to write me ask to be put on my ? list. Blessed be, Aloha

Ouch, you need professional help. Search for a psychiatrist, you can look them up on your health insurance's list of providers. If you don't have insurance, look for local clinic and/or university that may offer treatment at discounted fees. Be mindful, if you do go to a free local Addition Anonymous support group, many that attend are on heavier drugs and entangled into deeper problems. It may not be the most positive experiences and/or helpful. In the long-run you need a therapist/psychologist/social worker to help you identify what prompted you to get into the pain meds to begin with. Do get help, there are millions afflicted with addiction; you are already taking the first step, and that is great.

A friend of mine had an addiction to ativan and she went to a chinese herbalist, who gave her a small dose of valerian every day while she slowly backed off the ativan. I was amazed it worked.

I wouldn't try this without a licensed herbalist to help you along.

Of course, you could always check into rehab...

You can get help from your doc.

He/she will most likely give you a medication to get you over the worse hump of the withdrawal. Of course, take this medication as prescribed.

Don't suffer needlessly. That's the reason docs are out there - to help us when we need help.

there must be places in your town like the salvation army or other outreach programs..you could just go cold turkey for a week at a friend's house...a good friend, who will take your abuse...It's good you have decided to kick it...follow through, for your health's sake...Gawd Bless.
