The main objection in too much CO2 in the air is it is producing green house effect which contributes to global warming. However, to quantity the benefit in eliminating a ton of CO2 is quite hard because we don't know how strong a hurricane will be in the absence of a ton of CO2, how long will an island be habitable without a ton of CO2, etc.

While there are processes that use CO2, the amount in the air would make it prohibitive. The best way would be to absorb it into living plants that would use it for their growth and development, while exhausting oxygen into the atmosphere. The only "creatures" on the earth that use carbon dioxide directly are plants. Animals need a certain amount to regulate breathing. Normal breathing would cause a residual amount to remain in the lungs even if all of it could be removed enmasse from the atmosphere. The only thing that would suffer would be plants, so enmasse removal of CO2 would not be a good idea. Best would be to control it through better fuels that produce water as a by product, and the planting of more trees, bushes and grasses. It could also be used to help a certain Algae grow that produces a high body weight of oil that could be used to produce Bio-diesel.

Value?...It would have devistating affects.
It would likely cause an extreme change in the environment, in a very short time. Animals & plants couldn't cope with such a fast change.
