I can and can not be with. If someone told you this and you are over the age of 18, what would you say and do?

Your parents don't want you to make the same mistakes they did. Your mother still has a scar on her soul for listening to a smooth-talking man with curly hair and blue eyes who broke her heart into a million pieces. She loved him. He just wanted a place to stay for a week, with free food and nookie.

If you are supporting yourself and living outside the home, fine; just say "That's interesting. I'll think it over" or "Thank you for your advice".

I moved out at 18 and never looked back. If you are still living at home, you have to do what they say. They are like landlords only they don't charge you rent.

I would listen to them objectively and then make up my mind. Sometimes a person gets into a relationship that is bad for them so they don't see it while others not emotionally involved may, and by the same token they may not see the good in a person that someone who knows them better may see.
Have a discussion with them and then decide what you are going to do but don't rush into anything too quickly in case they are right.

Well, if you still live at home then you need to respect their rules and thoughts. Why? Because you live under their roof. If you want the freedom to make your own choices, you need to get out on your own and be independent. Prove to everyone telling you what to do that you can take care of yourself!

I'm 18. A lot of people don't approve of my life right now. I chose an unusual path.

But you know what? They have their own lives to live. This is MINE, and if they got something to say about it, I can tell them where to shove it.
