My long time friend from high school, who is 20, told me that he has had to have 4 molars removed from his bottom jaw.

That sparked my curiosity being that young. What are is his options? Will he have to wear dentures that young?

Hopefully he misunderstood and in reality needs to have his four wisdom teeth removed... two on top and two on the bottom.

Unless, of course, he has two supernumary teeth, like extra wisdom teeth...which would make four on the bottom...

Orrrrrrrrr his molars are in bad shape and there's no other option but to have them extracted...

~Try to get more info from him.......

:)

No...Lots of people get them removed. If theres too much crowding of the teeth it can cause crooked teeth and so on. Maybe they were irritating his gums or always sore. Who knows but lots of people have them removed, not only due to decay but to allow proper space between adult mature teeth.

He should be able to get by with what he has left. He might have to get a partial if it becomes a problem.
