Tell them all about how my tomatoes are doing this year. Boy the cherry ones really took off but my others never really got real big or real plentiful. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? I'm not much of a gardener, and it's really just kind of a little hobby. I don't pick most of them; I think the birds get them first. Which is fine. Do you grow tomatoes?

My 84 year old mother in law had the most delightful way of dealing with telemarketers. When ever they started with the good day, how are you? She'd tell them just how her bunion ached and about her hemorrhoids were acting up. Then lead into the hot flashes and gastrointestinal issues. They always hung up on her. Politely, or course.
For myself, I have a police whistle by the phone if they won't take no for an answer, I give them a good blow. I seldom get a call back.

I try to be polite. I tell them I'm not interested. If they continue, I say 'Please don't make me hang up on you' because I think just hanging up on someone is RUDE! Yes, telemarketing is rude too, but telemarketers are just people doing a job and they're usually very polite so I don't want to be rude to them.

Actually these days we use the answering machine to screen our calls. We are on the 'do not call' list but we still get a lot of telemarketer calls. 90% of the calls we get in the evenings do not leave a message.

I think junk e-mail is a MUCH worse problem these days.

I'm usually not rude to these people. They are just doing their job ( paapi pet ka sawaal...they say). But i really lose my cool when they call in the afternoons when i'm sleeping. That is when i tell them to check the time before they call a person. I may have been quite rude in a few situations like these.
But otherwise, I think its best to be reasonable and politely tell them that u r not interested in whatever they are offering.
They listen to a lot of abusive language from other people as it is. We don't need to give them any more of it....Come on people, be a little more thoughtful!

Well if you think about it they are just doing a job ,,,so i let them do the job and explain what they are calling for and then i will politely tell them i am not interested if that does not work i will repeat myself one more time a little less politely and if you have one of those ones that wont stop i just say NO I DONT WANT IT (not so nicely) and then hang up on them

I just ask them exactly where they are calling from in the world and tell them that I make a fair amount of money, enough to fly to here they are, find them and shove their deal so far up their **** that the do not call list I am regstered on will forever be a taste in the back of their mouth.

Oh my gosh telemarketers are so fun sometimes! I would reccomed starting to speak a different language to one. I started speaking spanish to one once and the lady said "ok ma'm i will be sure to take you off our list." It doesn't work for all of them, but it works for some of them who don't have translators. Plus it is kind of fun because they start laughing sometimes.

I act like I'm really interested in what they're selling then when they ask for purchasing information I promptly hang up :-) Pisses them off and none of them call back. I know it's thier job, but it's so over-rated! Being polite usually gets them calling back though.

I tell them I'm on the 'do not call list' and ask them to respect my right not to be bothered. If they keep calling, I answer and hang up without talking.

I politely tell them I'm not interested, and then hang up. But my husband - he'll spend tons of time explaining to them WHY we don't want whatever they're selling - he's far too nice!
