Honestly, Taurus makes a "decent" handgun for the money,,
But I would save a few dollars more and buy something of better quality especially if you are considering a .357 Magnum Tracker. The quality is just not there. I have shot the Tracker during a demo and I wasn't impressed with the quality of manufacture,or the accuracy. You would be MUCH better off with a 6" Barrel Smith & Wesson,Ruger or Colt (Used) rather than buying a Tracker. I assume you want to shoot targets and hunt Deer with this handgun and the others will suit your purposes much better....

Taurus makes very good revolvers (as well as automatics). The only short coming with the Tracker is a somewhat rough trigger. Also, some people don't like the grips. Both problems can be solved for about a $100. Still much cheaper than a S&W.
As for hunting, it's probably up to the task, but I would consider a
.44 if you want to hunt deer with a handgun.

I have a Taurus 608 357 mag. SS with a 6 1/2" and it is a great pistol......I have have a Smith & Wesson combat 66 with a 4'" and I can say that my Taurus is every bit as good of a pistol as my Smith........I actually take my Taurus out Deer hunting over my Smith.........So far I have shot 3 deer with that 608 and have only had to fire one shot each time.......Even though I have a 8 shot sylinder.....I looked at the Trcker when I got my 608, the reason I got the 608 over the Tracker was the 8 shot sylinder, and I liked the grip on the 608 better other wise they are abouth the same pistol.......You may want to check out the 608 it's a better buy 4 your money ........Taurus is just as good as any other "big" name brand it's just at a working mane price like all the "big" name brands USE TO be.........If you want to check out some of Tuarus's pistols go to .......taurususa.com........... You will be able to check out the Tracker series and others........Good luck

Taurus' are really not as bad as some brands of revolver out there. Some people are biased against them because they are imported.
If you said you wanted a revolver to keep near the bed at home and were going to put a couple hundred practice rounds through it a year, the Taurus is fine.
But for hunting, where you are spending a lot of money to put yourself within shooting distance of game, you want something that will not fail you. Not to mention that your hunting time is very valuable time and you don't want to waste that either.
Take the previous advice and get a Smith or Ruger (or Colt if you can afford a nice used one....)

Taurus is not a bad gun at all. They are a quality gun. I own several of them and they are all very well made guns. At one time Taurus and Smith and Wesson were both owned by the same company. That is why Taurus revolvers are Smith and Wesson clones. As a matter of fact one of my Taurus handguns is a tracker and I think it is a well made gun and shoots well to boot. I don't recommend the .357 as a hunting round and in fact it may not be a legal deer hunting round in your state. Most states require a more powerful round for deer. My personal minimum is .44 magnum for deer and I usually use my Taurus Raging Bull chambered for the .454 Casul round for deer hunting.

For your purpose it would be wiser to invest in a Smith& Wesson or Colt.* Yes you can harvest a Deer with the 357 Magnum.* I have both.*
