Depends on condition, use, serial number, etc.

Other than that I have seen them going high into the thousands on Gunbroker.com

The Winchester Model 1897is the darling of the Cowboy shooters so the demand is high and the prices of a good one is higher.
I have seen them sell at gun shows for $250 to $950 all depending on condition and gage. The 12 gage sells the fastest and at the highest prices. The 20 gage sells high but mostly to collectors. The 16 gage is an orphan and you can pick them up reasonably cheap. If you find a 97 which is solid frame and not 'take down' and the price is right buy it. Very few were made compared to the later take down model.
