I'm currently on Effexor XR 150mg, Vistiril 50mg 3 times a day and Xanax ER 2mg. Is this a common mixture of Meds to treat Panic attacks? I feel better than I did before the treatment but I still have attacks from time to time. Is there a better combo of scrips to consider?

Effexor is an antidepressant in the SNRI category. They are intended to activate. Some people have extreme anxiety and panic attacks from this medication. It is too activating!

A better antidepressant imho would be one from the SSRI category. They are calming and zero in on anxiety.

Talk to your doctor and discuss Effexor. That is my informed hunch.

Effexor XR can be an "agitating" drug. There are other drugs that may be better.

However, have you tried Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in addition to your drug regimen? See David Barlow's self-help books if you are interested in trying it alone.

I take about the same mixture, except I take adavan, instead of xanax. Call your pharmacist for the real truth. Good Luck.

have you tried reiki or tai-chi or anyother meditation
It could help you breath through the panic attacks, reduce the length of time you take to recover.

give the drugs some help

Effoxor...to me makes them worse. Taking the xanix daily and then a half when one hits should help just as well. I take zoloft and xanix daily and a half of xanix when needed.
