i have some expensive guitars and I figured i should ask before i risk it.

matt,no disrespect but to my 7 years knowlage of guitars I think lemon oil
is used as a fret board conditioner.

I wouldn't recommend Brasso to clean and polish guitar strings. When the strings become dirty enough, change the entire set and stop messing with them.

Brasso can be used on the metal tuning knobs and volume (metal) knobs, but that is about it.

NO! Use plain alcohol on a Cotton cloth to clean strings with. While we're on the subject - don't use furniture polish to clean the guitars with either. There are several good brands of purpose made guitar polish.

No! use lemon oil to clean strings.
